Germany Area Guide

The research below will allow you to gain general and practical knowledge on Germany

Germany is known for its great cities. The greatest of them is the capital Berlin. Berlin has some of the world's greatest architecture, and is known for its vibrancy, culture, friendly people and great nightlife. But it is not just a bustling metropolis, it is also one of the greenest cities in the world with many wonderful parks and green areas to enjoy, and almost every apartment block has a good communal garden area. Hamburg is also a very vibrant city with great shopping fantastic restaurants and again, a great nightlife.

The German economy is the biggest, strongest and most stable economy in Europe, not because the rest of Europe is falling apart, but because of years of low spending and strong exports. In fact, while Germany is the 4th largest economy in the world (by nominal GDP) it is the third largest export nation in the world according to the CIA – arguably the second given that the EU is currently holding that spot and isn't a country, not to mention the fact that without German exports the EU would be nowhere near that high.

Germany fell victim to the financial crisis, suffering a 5.1% GDP contraction in 2009, but in 2010 it bounced back with growth of 4.2% far stronger than the years running up to the crash, and this was followed by a 3% growth in 2011. However, growth is thought to have slowed last year to just under 1%, but if one knows Germany this will mark a return to the slow steady, but ever-continuous growth.

The German currency is the Euro.
