Experience the traditional Portuguese Atmosphere of Loule

A historic market town, Loule is one of the most charming tourist destinations in the Algarve, a place brimming with character. Tree-lined plazas, cobbled streets, historic white-washed houses and bustling shopping areas offer a glimpse into what the region's resorts looked like before tourism. Loule even has its own castle, which is part of Loule's museum.

The views from the castle's old walls are spectacular. At the heart of Loule lies the Arabic-inspired covered market, where local traders offer wares ranging from fruit and vegetables to clothes.

It's a good place to start looking for a holiday home or a place to retire to. A direct bus service links Loule with both Faro and Albufeira.

Newly-built two-bedroom apartments start at around 150,000 euros, while already converted three-bedroom town houses are being listed with asking prices of around 290,000 euros. This means there's an opportunity to buy a property in Loule that has not been renovated yet and turn it into affordable apartments or transform it into a comfortable, modern town house.
