** THIS PROPERTY HAS NOW BEEN SOLD. FOR INFORMATION ON SIMILAR PROPERTIES PLEASE CALL 0800-1337644 ** This WONDERFUL villa is literally located in a little piece of paradise between Silves and São Bartolomeu de Messines, although in a VERY QUIET LOCATION there are two cafe's within walking distance and a short drive to the nearest town with all amenities. The Villa has STUNNING VIEWS over the countryside with a little bit of ocean in the distance, surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, a PRIVATE SWIMMING POOL, BBQ area, garage for one car, two fish ponds and even a WINDMILL in its ORIGINAL state. This property has a spacious living room with a log effect gas fire place, air conditioning and patio doors to a large terrace area. On the south side of the villa, accessed from the living room, there is a very large open plan room, currently used as an additional sitting room and office, it has 3 sets of double stable doors overlooking the gardens and pool to the fabulous views beyond. This generous space could easily accommodate a third bedroom with en-suite bathroom while still leaving plenty of space for the extra sitting room and office. The villa has 2 SPACIOUS BEDROOMS with built in wardrobes, the master bedroom has an en-suite full bathroom and the second bedroom has use of a separate shower room. There is a fully fitted and equipped kitchen. The landscaped grounds of the property surround the villa and have full automatic irrigation with a self sufficient water supply from the borehole. On the highest point on the plot stands the yet untouched windmill, with 360 degree view over the countryside. The nearest towns to this property are Silves which is an enchanting town which sits on the banks of the Arade River ("Rio Arade"). There is history everywhere you look to remind you of its affluent and bold past as a Moorish capital (“Xelb”). The most prominent monument is Castelo de Silves (Silves Castle), which is now the best preserved castle in the Algarve. The castle and the Cathedral beside it are the first buildings you see as you approach Silves, as they sit on the hilltop above the town. São Bartolomeu de Messines is probably best known as being the birthplace of the 19th century poet, João de Deus, whose book "Cartilha Maternal" was widely used to teach reading and writing during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is a typical inland Algarve town, set in a valley, to the north east of Silves. There is a lovely church in the middle of the older part of Messines (Igreja Matriz), originating from 16th century, with a style somewhere between Manueline and Renaissance, to which was added a baroque façade during the 18th century. The front of the church really is rather impressive with the contrast of white walls and red sandstone around the doorway and the tower stands tall amongst the other buildings. The general feel of Messines is of a town about to change, although it is a town that feels very Portuguese, with its daily fruit and vegetable market, local shops and restaurants, it quite comfortably caters for English speaking visitors.
