German buyers 'returning to the Spanish property market'

There has been an increase in the number of German buyers looking for properties in Spain.

This is according to Marc Pritchard, sales and marketing manager at Taylor Wimpey de Espana, who explained his firm has seen a 28.6 per cent rise in the number of German investors entering the market in the first half of this year, compared to the same period in 2011.

"At one stage there was a dip, but now this trend is reversing as Germans begin to invest in the nation once again, especially on Mallorca," he asserted.

Mr Pritchard also pointed out Spain's appeal as a retirement destination, noting its climate and healthcare system are two of the factors that make it stand out to people looking to relocate abroad once they have finished working.

Meanwhile, the announcement earlier this month that Spain is to amend its Coastal Law to provide greater certainty to those with properties in the country's seaside regions could help boost interest in the nation's real estate market.
