This is an one of a kind house. The unique stone and concrete construction gives the home the appearance of an Alpine cottage. The original builders designed the construction to be a 200 year structure. All exterior walls were formed from solid 8 concrete, and it has double windows throughout, forming an extremely energy efficient interior. While the concrete was still wet, a skilled craftsman took stones that were then being removed from our local caverns, at the Caverns State Park, and expertly pieced them onto the exterior. You can spend hours finding fossilized shells, leaves, and wood in the stonework. The roof structure is also built to last well over 100 years. The roof trusses are 2X 6 s instead of 2 X 4 s , on 16 centers instead of 20. The underroof is 1 X6 seasoned planking instead of common decking. The roof is 70 stronger than a modern roof. The home is virtually termite proof, hurricane proof, and almost fire proof. There is not another home in the area with these unique characteristics. Because of these unique characteristics, the home structure has almost no deterioration from aging. The site is on the Marianna Driving Tour of Homes.
